Ans : Preface: Communication is a Latin originated word, meaning of which is sharing. Communication means sharing or exchanging information news, views, ideas etc. with some one. Here traffic lights, road signs, railway signals, telegraphic code are the bright-example.
Definition of Communication: It is very difficult to define the term “Communication’ in a simple way. Different scholars defined it in different way. A few comment given by some experts-on communication are given below :
According to Emery & Others, “Communication is the art of transmitting information, ideas, & attitude in are person to another.”
Prof. B.R. Ricks R.F. Gow said, “Communication is the exchange of information that is mutually understood.”
According to Elliot Jaquer, “Communication is the sum total of directly and indirectly, consciously and unconsciously transmitted feelings, attitudes and wishes.”
According to Theo Haiman, “Communication means the process of passing information & understanding from one person to another.“
Conclusion: In fine, we can say communication is the process of exchanging information between two or more parties where one party transmits message by using a medium & the other party receive the message.
বঙ্গানুবাদ : Communication শব্দটি এসেছে ল্যাটিন ভাষা থেকে, যার অর্থ হচ্ছে ভাগাভাগি। Communication শব্দের অর্থ হচ্ছে তথ্য, সংবাদ, মতামত, ধারণা ইত্যাদির বিনিময় করা। e এক্ষেত্রে এর সঠিক উদাহরণ হচ্ছে গাড়ির বাতি, রাস্তার পাশের সাইনবোর্ড, রেলের সাংকেতিক চিহ্ন, টেলিগ্রাফিক কোড ইত্যাদি।
যোগাযোগের সংজ্ঞা : সাধারণভাবে যোগাযোগ শব্দটির সংজ্ঞা দেওয়া খুবই কঠিন। বিভিন্ন পণ্ডিত ব্যক্তি বিভিন্নভাবে এর সংজ্ঞা দিয়েছেন। নিচে যোগাযোগ বিষয়ে দেওয়া বিভিন্ন মনীষীর বাণী তুলে ধরা হলো :
Emery & o thers এর মতে, “যোগাযোগ হচ্ছে একজনের কাছ থেকে অন্য জনের কাছে তথ্য, ধারণা ও দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি বিনিময় করা।”
Prof. B. R. Ricks I R.F. Gow বলেন, “যোগাযোগ হচ্ছে তথ্যের বিনিময়, যা পরস্পরের সমঝোতার ভিত্তিতে সম্পন্ন করা হয়।”
